Our very own Quake Live contender, nitroN, interviewed by Spotgamers the day before leaving for ESL Intel Extreme Masters Asian Championship in Taiwan.

Spotgamers: How are your preparations for this upcoming tournament?

nitroN: I've been training hard by watching demos and playing the whole day ever since I got the news that I got an invitation spot from ash of DuskBin which was around 14 days from the event date. I have my semester finals going on in between and I had to juggle both at the same time.

Spotgamers: Why did you decide to join Duskbin instead of remaining at Fmj?

 nitroN: FMJ is not an organisation, it is a group of friends like a brotherhood. I'm still a FMJ, just not playing with them at this time. I'm a friend of Ash from DuskBin and we talk about the event and my preparations alot, so we both thought maybe I could represent them for Quakelive because this game is coming up right now and they would like to start a division. DuskBin is a great organisation with players from all around Asia, like their Starcraft team with great players like Sen from Taiwan and the HK Counter-Strike team RS-gaming. Afterall I'm happy to be in a Malaysian organisation.

Spotgamers: Do you feel the need to deliver given you are Malaysia's only representative at this event?

nitroN: Yes, absolutely. I'll try my best to do what I can because the other participants played this game for more than 10 years and I've just started not long ago, I've played Quake3 now and then back when I'm playing Counter-Strike but it all add up to not more than 1 month of gameplay time. About my groupings, Group B is definitely the harder group, it consists of prozaC from Sweden, uNleashed from Japan and MUSTAINE from Taiwan. They are all good players and I hope that I'm up for it.

Spotgamers: Who do you think are the favourites to qualify?

nitroN: Definitely Jibo and prozaC, these 2 players have been around since forever and they are progamers. Jibo studies in Russia and trains with the best players while prozaC is a Team Deathmatch legend from 2000-2003.

Spotgamers: What do you hope to achieve in Taiwan?

nitroN: With this being my 1st tournament in the Quake series, I don't hope for too much but I would like to get to the playoffs. I'll try my best to get out of my group.
