DuskBin.CS interviewed by SOC Gaming

DuskBin.CS interviewed by SOC Gaming »
Written by: bender 03/03/2010 16:40:56

DuskBin.CS was interviewed by Taiwan's games and E-sports professional league, SOC gaming during their trip to the ESL Asian championship finals.

This article is fully translated from the source:

While the ESL IEM Asian Championship Finals has ended,DuskBin.CS is a Counterstrike 1.6 team from Hong Kong, and Hong Kong's skill level in CS has been improving at an impressive pace recently. Due to Hong Kong being located near to Taiwan, we often meet these guys in scrims and friendlies, and right now we have a chance to interview them in the SteelSeries office in Taiwan.

Here's the DuskBin guys from Hong Kong! Lets start the interview then!

Q1. Can you DuskBin players briefly introduce yourself and your role in the team?

All of us are aged between 19-21. aumei is our commander and awper , perhaps pixal protege and fungbi are our rifles players.

Wow you guys are really young , that would mean when you started to dominate the scene you were only around 16 years old, it's really amazing!

Q2.How did DuskBin prepare for this?

We trained together daily in our online server due to the high expenses on LAN if we were to play together offline. We have spent more than 3 hours daily in order to prepare for this.

It seems like we can barely find a Taiwanese who practices as much, despite the fact that LAN cafes are incredibly cheap over here, I'd like to call upon the taiwanese teams to have some self-reflections over here.
Q3.What are your thoughts about yours results IEM Asia Finals ?

We're very disappointed, our target was to get atleast top 4 but we failed to achieve it.

Q4.Do you have any interesting experiences or memorable moments in Taiwan which you would like to share with us?

*Everyone answered in the same accord" Taiwanese girls are so HOT!  . The snack in Taiwan is also really delicious , especially the super large chicken shop . The waiters in Taiwan are also very polite that they would always say "thank you" regardless of the situation. The people here are also very civilized even when they are in a long queue for railway, buses etc. It's totally different as compared to what we experience everyday in Hong Kong.

Is it so? Maybe it's just me but I think the attitude of the workers in Taiwan isn't so good. Maybe it'll be worse if I went to Hong Kong, I guess.
Q5.What are your thoughts about the CS scene in Taiwan?

The general quality of LAN cafes in Taiwan is very good and affordable. As for CS team that would be UMX. We play with each other quite frequently online and the results are about equal for both of us. However, we feel that they've analyzed us this time and has came up with some strats that counter our styles, this is exactly what we think we're lack of that resulted in our loss. We've always talked to each other through IM and we're pretty good friends outside the game.

Q6.Do you have any opinions about the venue, hardware and marshalls of IEM Asia Finals held in Taiwan this time?

They are very professional and the hardwares are good . The whole thing is very well organized.

But I think it's noisy in the venue and the stream is also kinda laggy. I think you guys are too polite to give such an answer.

Q7.What kind of impression have your opponents from the group stage given you this time?
XGs is a pretty passionate type of team and they have very good momentum within the team as well. We don't really have any opinions for WMF as the gap between us is too big for us to comment on. The match against UMX will however be very memorable to us as it is one match that we should never forget. We only started to get back into shape after the timeout call but we've given too many rounds away before that which resulted the loss.
I think you mean it's very lively in XGs xD. I've watched the game against UMX and i think the tk in the last few rounds is what costed you the victory.
Q8.Which Asian teams do you particularly look up to?

It's definitely Tyloo from China but we think Wemadefox is better this time. We've played against tyloo in WCG and the result was unbearable.

Q9.How is the Esports scene in Hong Kong?

It's terrible here and due to the high price of LAN cafes and lack of tournaments, most people only start to form a team 1 month before a major tournament takes place. There are quite a lot of casual gamers but most of them do not really support the esports activities and even less are willing to contribute (organization like SOC) the other good team in Hong Kong would be EP.

Q10.Will there be any preparations for the AWPer in the team? What does it take to be an AWPer?

(aumei replies):I'll work on the basics and practice vs bots on aim_sk. I think for an AWPer, besides quick reflexes, the most important aspect is movement and experience, and especially positioning.

I'll explain a bit on positioning here. The key aspect on positioning is to get into an important position with speed and accuracy, which you cannot move too fast and misposition and losses the kill opportunity. Also this includes the crosshair positioning speed must be quick and accurate to avoid missing the firing opportunity. And then it's all up to the trigger reflexes.

Q11.So what are your personal interests?

Basketball, guitar, soccer.... (Only one answered "Sleep")

Sounds similiar to Taiwan players, although a lot of Taiwanese gamers don't like outdoor sports. Be careful not to become real nerds our fellow taiwanese....

Q12.What are the strengths and weaknesses of your team? And what tournaments will you be participating in the near future?

We have been playing together for 4-5 years, so we have good chemistry. We hate to lose a lot, so it's a huge motivation for us to win games. The next online tournament will be CCSL, in which we will meet UMX again, and then following it will be ESWC and WCG!

Q13. Do you have any shoutouts to the gamers of SOC?

We would like to thank all the gamers of SOC for continuing their support for us, and if the pings are ok, we might be participating in the SOC23 league, and we want to also thank SteelSeries, our boss, Andrik, and Microworks.
