The GosuGamers Steelseries HoN World Cup tourney has seen the rise and fall of the heavy hitters in both International and Garena HoN. DuskBin.HoN's Quarterfinals Best of 3 Series has certainly lived up to expectations. Our guys at DuskBin.HoN matched up against eG, the team once known as LOAD. Team eG has been a dominant force in the HoN scene and is ranked as the world's best. Here's a brief recountof the matches.
Game 1:
In the first match eG gained a quick but marginal early game advantage and held on to it until the first team clash near Legion mid tower which DuskBin.HoN was able to snatch. After that initial team fight DuskBin.HoN seemed to gain confidence and began putting on the pressure with frequent ganks on Chu playing as Wretched Hag and Bkid on SoulStealer. The majority of the following team fights were also taken by DuskBin which led to a strong farm on Zekaykay playing Defiler and Capt`mike on Hammerstorm. The constant gank and push team strat employed by DUskBin.HoN gave eG little room to maneuver and at the 35th minute with top and mid rax down eG finally called the vote to concede.
Game 2:
Game 2 sees Defiler getting banned. eG pulled extremely far ahead early in the game. With the killscore at 22-9, it looked like eG would take it all the way, making an aggressive push in the mid lane in the 28th minute. The decisive genocide that the DuskBin.HoN defence brought on eG however allowed the DuskBin team to catch up in Exp and also gave them the advantage of a Kongor kill and token on Soulstealer. The loss of the token in a catch by eG resulted in a possible counter push into the Legion base failing. However with strong ganks setup by the supports, DuskBin.HoN continued its attitude of never backing down and was able to bring the killscore up to 28-24 (still in favor of eG). Zekaykay's Soulstealer proved to be a force to be reckoned with, outfarming chu's 400 GPM Corrupted disciple with an outstanding 500 GPM and a Hero killscore of 14-0 (streak ended 1 kill from immortal by Bkid and Dodo) to Chu's 8-4. DuskBin.HoN pressed its team fight advantage and managed to equalise the herokill score at the 52nd minute, taking out Chu's Corrupted Disciple and aggressively pressuring mid base tower. [eG]Bkid on Behemoth however managed to split the DuskBin.HoN force with a well placed fissure and eG was able to take the teamfight. They then forced a clash at Hellbourne's rax while the DuskBin.HoN heroes were not all respawned and took first mid then top rax. The game stretched over an hour but with Kong, bananas and token on eG's side, it wasnt long before eG took the Hellbourne shrine.
Game 3:
Game 3 began for the first time in strong favor of DuskBin.HoN, supporters Ismification and Polwilders provided excellent cover for Zekaykay in mid while Dragon was able to control Se`busca on bubbles at bottom. With a strong hero kill and gold advantage, DuskBin.HoN looked set to take game three. However, the pivotal factor was Bkid on Swiftblade. DuskBin.HoN's inability to halt his farm (he pretty much had free farm in his native top lane) allowed him to tear away easily at the Legion team. The match outcome became evident by the 30th minute or so and the final game went to eG.
Despite the teams loss, spirits are as high as ever and the matches have spurred our warriors in DuskBin.HoN to train even harder than ever.. A battle may have been lost, but the war still rages on.
[DskB]zekaykay had a few words regarding the matches : "At the start i was not sure about our chances. But as the games progressed, especially in match 1, when the score began to tip in our favor, i felt we had a very good chance of winning. I trust my team and although we are definitely the underdogs against eG, i knew we would do a great job against the #1 team in the world.
Looking at eG, and playing against them first hand, i can see that their teamwork is excellent, and it would not be fair to say that the team is reliant on any one player. eG's undeniable strength lies in the skill and coordination of the entire team."
